Our father had purchased a Long Term Care Policy years ago and we felt that dad easily met the policy requirements to receive its benefits which would serve to offset the expenses of his elder care facility. However, we were very disappointed when our initial claim was denied in early 2024, as were our subsequent attempts, to avail the coverage which we felt he was due.
Upon the insurance company's denial, I spoke with a law firm with significant experience in LTC claims recovery and learned that they work on a contingent basis whereby they are compensated at a rate of 15% of the insurance proceeds, throughout the policy term.
Accordingly, I then contacted Disability Insurance Law Group; we chose to work with Attorney Mindy Chmielarz at DILG as their fee structure is fixed such that in year 1 we would save approximately $10,000 (versus the 15% contingent fee) and over the term of the policy we could anticipate savings of $75,000. Within the first month of engaging DILG the insurer committed to honor the policy's claims payment provisions. Payments continue to this day without a hitch.
My dad and our family are truly grateful for the services provided by Attorney Mindy Chmielarz. We found her to be well experienced and technically competent, professional, caring and a highly effective negotiator.
